In our effort to strengthen our worldwide awareness, we gather online for quarterly meetings with Youth Section co-workers around the world. For the last year, the calls have been carried by Ani in Georgia, Clara in Brazil, Iona in the USA, and Katrina in Switzerland. We are warmly inviting new collaborators and carriers! Formal Youth Section coworkers Rose Nekvapil, Kathleen Morse sit down with Katrina Hoven to discuss the upcoming summer gathering for coworkers from the early 2000s, during the days of Section leader Elizabeth Wirsching. The conversation covers inspiration, memories, and life questions (as a young person and in middle age.

Katrina: 
Could you both introduce yourselves and just share a little bit about what your connection has been to the Youth Section?

Rose:
I'm Rose. It's great to be here. It feels like such a long time ago that I was at the Youth Section. I was invited by Elizabeth Wirsching, who was the head of the Youth Section at the time.
I remember we used to drink a lot of coffee out the front. Some of these older members would come and visit and they would tell us that they used to be in the Youth Section. I remember not believing them because they were so old. And now I feel like I'm one of those people…now I’m an elder! 

Kathleen: 
I'm Kathleen, and I was a part of the International Youth Section. I first met the Youth Section in Brazil at Connectivity in…the summer of 2006, 20 years ago. It was influential in my life and in forming the relationships that I built. It's incredible now, 20 plus years later, to still have these connections but in a totally new way.

Katrina:
And what's happening this summer in Sweden? Who's coming? How did it come to be?

Rose: 
The idea is that Elizabeth was the Youth Section leader from 2000 to 2011, I think. During her time, there was such a strong international network of young people. We had a meeting every single year called the Initiative Meeting. Young people from all over the world would come who were working with different projects and initiatives and Youth Sections ...There was a feeling that this strong network that had been created still has something to do with each other. 
For me personally, the reason why I took it up and made a determined effort to make it happen was for Elizabeth. She just did so much for me in welcoming me into the network and the community and Dornach and the Youth Section building. She really was pivotal in my life at that time. And I met so many of my closest friends in the world in that network. 

During the spring of 2026, a group of more than one thousand young individuals from all over the world with different backgrounds, origins, values and beliefs set an example. An example of what could be our everyday reality. Living life not just next to each other but with one another. Forming a community and creating an atmosphere where each feels welcome, where cultures weave together forming a colourful web in which the individual merges into the harmony of togetherness.

One can be amazed by the beauty of such experiences, but we can also ask ourselves why something of that nature is not our current standard. Should we not try to make our society a place as such. Therefore, a gathering like an International youth conference forms an excellent opportunity to plant small seeds of inspiration: A warm feeling that stays with us, caused by little moments of happiness or heartfelt encounters with each other.

These moments make us realize that connection is a state of being rather than an emotional perception which subsequently raises the question of what to do with the insights that may have formed.

How do we integrate these found values into our day-to-day life? Which form does our tiny seed take? Do we see it as our shared responsibility to carry these progressive principles out into the world?

If so, maybe just like many droplets form the sea, our sparkles become a beacon of light, small gestures that together change the bigger picture. This, striving towards a society in harmony and ultimately achieving what the word itself in its pure form represents: humanity.

Many young people feel called to care for the Earth yet often struggle to find places where this care can become real, shared, and recognised. At a time when many are searching for purpose, belonging, and meaningful ways to contribute, Planetary Service exists to support people who act on this impulse and to make their contributions visible, valued, and understood as meaningful work in society.
Recently we spent a week with volunteers working at Terranu in Ireland. Working together on the land, sharing meals, solving practical challenges, and learning by doing reminded us how much becomes possible when people come together around a shared purpose.

Nathaniel and Roos sit down to discuss a recent process of changing the statutes of the Anthroposophical Society.

Nathaniel:
I want to start off with just a little introduction to the history of the Society before we jump in…One of the really fascinating aspects for me of the Anthroposophical Society is that it was created as a form where people who were interested in trying to expand knowledge into the spiritual of the human being and the world could be in association together through newsletters and also through events like conferences, but also where they could actually pool resources and create a school where research could go on in different fields and departments, which has its center at the Goetheanum. This is an interesting model.
There has been a process of updating the constitution and statutes…creating something that feels appropriate for the work. And there's been a lot of conversation and really intense also debate over the years. And you have been really in the middle of this process with a convent, a group of people that's worked for a year to try to come up with new statutes. Can you tell us a little bit about that?

Roos:
Well, I think it's one of the most challenging things I've done in my 31 years being on this Earth. It's an interesting combination of looking at the future: How do you want to be, and how do you want to organize yourselves? And then at the same time taking on everything which happened in the past. So, it's a very exciting, and at the same time difficult, in-between: How do you look forward? Taking on everything which happened in the past, but not being burdened by it. And maybe that's one of the good things that I'm 31. I'm the youngest of the convent members, and I haven't been burdened by the past. There's a really big conversation about whether the Christmas Statutes are respected or not [the statutes from 1923].

Wie kommt das Neue in die Welt?
Eine Aussage, die in der Jugendsektion immer wieder bewegt wird, ist „wie das Neue in die Welt kommt?“ Junge Menschen können diese „Neue" mitbringen. Tragen junge Menschen das automatisch in sich? Können Sie es auch sich heraus schöpfen? Junge Menschen treffen sich auch in Lesekreisen oder gründen Institutionen mit einer vermehrten "Sensibilität für das Zwischenmenschliche“, ist das „Neue“ einfach eine andere Art dies zu tun? Lasst uns gern, anhand Aussagen von Rudolf Steiner vor 100 Jahren zur Jugendsektion dazu ins Gespräch kommen!

How would you imagine the future Anthroposophical Society?

With these questions Roos Naves (Dutch, 31 years old) wants to encounter you in an open conversation about the new statutes. The convent (a group of twelve people) has worked out concept statutes for our future Society. As a member of this convent, she would be greatly thankful for your feedback and ideas!

The Caravan is a performing arts troupe taking our new social sculpture, The Living Room, on the road this summer. We will offer free public performances in eight cities across the East Coast to engage our guests in radical imaginations of future culture. 

Through our performances of theater, circus, and music, we bring our audience into a magical world where the dreary rules of everyday life don’t apply and impossible things may come to pass. We are over halfway funded already – your support can bring social sculpture alive!

Die Mysteriendramen bieten eine originelle Einführung in die Anthroposophie. Im vierten Drama bringt der Schritt zum Gemeinschaftswerk Krisen. Eine unerreichte Sprache öffnet die Tiefe. Erstmalig spielen Bilder aus dem Leben der Seelen in den Planetensphären zwischen Tod und neuer Geburt.

Durch gemeinsames Lesen und Sprechen soll dieses Werk und damit die Anthroposophie einige Tage unter uns aufle - ben. Bei ausreichender Teilnahme kommt eine Sommerakademie 2027 mit Aufführung.

Im Rahmen einer gemeinschaftlichen Arbeit haben wir uns im letzten Halbjahr in der Jugendsektion in Deutschland auf die Faust-Aufführung (10. bis 12. Juli 2026) vorbereitet und werden diese gemeinsam anschauen. An dem Aufführungswochenende wird es neben dem normalen Programm auch eine „Zeitlos“-Veranstaltung für uns jüngere Menschen geben, die sich derzeit noch in Ausarbeitung befindet. In der gemeinsamen Arbeit versuchen wir, den Jugendkurs mit Blick auf Johann Wolfgang von Goethe und sein Lebensdrama Faust zu erforschen.
Wir laden herzlich ein, an den verbleibenden Studienabenden teilzunehmen oder einfach zur Aufführung dazuzukommen. Alle sind willkommen, unabhängig von der bisherigen Teilnahme.

Das ist eine Ankündigung für ein mehrwöchiges Gesangsprojekt in Süddeutschland. Hier die wichtigsten Inhalte kompakt zusammengefasst:
Vom 1. August bis 7. September 2026 findet in Sulzburg und einem weiteren Ort in Süddeutschland ein Gesangsseminar statt. Geleitet wird es von Constanze Saltzwedel und Michael Lehmann. Gearbeitet wird nach der Methode der „Schule der Stimmenthüllung“, mit Schwerpunkt auf Gesang und Stimmentwicklung.
Ein zentrales Projektziel ist die Beschäftigung mit Mozarts Oper „Die Zauberflöte“, die im Verlauf des Seminars erarbeitet und schließlich auch aufgeführt werden soll. Die erste Woche ist als offene Kurswoche in Sulzburg geplant; danach folgen gezielte Proben für die Aufführungen, aufbauend auf den Vorerfahrungen.

Through this program, young people ages 18 – 28 will have the opportunity to know different anthroposophic fields of practice such as medicine, agriculture, education and social initiative. The program will also help young people receive information toward possible professional orientation in their lives.
The leading theme of this year is the observation of the first 1000 days of the life of the human being on the Earth—from the moment of conception. We look from the medical perspective, embryology, pediatrics, etc. then from the educational persepective necessary for the proper development of the four lower senses—the senses of touch, life, self-movement, and balance. They serve as the foundation for physical orientation and inner well-being.

Together, we will seek an experience of the truth as it lives in the warmth of soul, transforming dead intellectuality through direct revelation. By engaging our faculties of thinking, feeling, and willing, we will learn what it means to create out of a living relationship to Spirit. We hope to see you at the annual conference of the North American Youth Section.

Learn by living. Wake to the sounds of village life. Begin the day with movement and contemplative practices. Share meals cooked together. Work with the land, in the kitchen, on eco-building projects, and in community care. Experience learning that engages body, heart, and mind.

Create and reflect. Participate in creative workshops in art, movement, storytelling, dialogue, and collective inquiry. Meet regularly in small “connect groups” for reflection, support, and integration.

Listen and co-create. Through participatory processes such as Go Deep and the Oasis Game, you will walk the village, listen to its people, sense what is needed, and co-design simple, tangible contributions that support community wellbeing. This is a lived experience of collective listening and hands-on co-creation.

This August the Collective Wisdom Camp is happening in the north of Sweden. 
Are you above 18 and interested in self-sufficiency skills, community building and practical knowledge? Join us for a month-long learning and community experience!

Together we will live on a small farm, connect with the local community and learn from their traditional wisdom, share stories and skills, and spend our summer outside gardening, foraging and crafting. The Camp is your chance to connect to yourself, others and nature to develop resilience and get inspired to take action in the time of rapid change and complexity.

We will explore the meditative and foundational content of the School of Spiritual Science through a working with the content of the Class Lessons, artistic work, and conversation groups, and through initiative sessions we will take up the task of finding future ways and forms for the future of the School.

Question! Encounter! Play! is an inclusive arts learning program that aims to bring together young people from different places around the world through Anthroposophy and art.

In a week of creative collaboration, participants live and work at the Goetheanum Campus, creating a theatre play from scratch, embodying in the process values of human dignity and community spirit.

YIP offers an educational space where up to 40 participants from around the world learn, create, and organize alongside experts, facilitators, and innovators. Through our curriculum, we strive to cultivate a space where young people can explore their authentic self and purpose, expand their understanding of the world and develop their fullest potential within it.

Would you like to explore Anthroposophy together with other young people? On September 13, 2026, an intensive educational year will begin for the third time in Aesch, near the Goetheanum. In selected areas, we engage intellectually, artistically, and practically.

The language is German, with interpretation into English available if needed. Age: 18 to 26 years.

Das Kunststudienjahr richtet sich an Menschen, die ihr Interesse für die Kunst erwecken, intensivieren und vertiefen wollen. In drei Trimestern, die auch einzeln besucht werden können, werden die Künste Architektur, Bildhauerei und Malerei auf der Grundlage der Anthroposophie und des Goetheanismus praktisch erkundet und durch anthroposophisches Grundlagenstudium vertieft.

All your commitment, creativity, and joy of creation are dedicated to the common goal: to develop a young, existential eurythmy performance that we will bring to many venues.

Die AkBB (Akademie für Bewegung und Bildung) ist eine praxisorientierte Ausbildung zum Sport- und Klassenlehrer*in an Waldorf und Rudolf Steiner Schule. Die Studierende sind von Anfang an im Unterricht an der Schule mit dabei und werden in den 2 Jahren an der AkBB zunehmend eingebunden. Im dritten Jahr machen sie an der Freien Hochschule Stuttgart ihr Bachelor Abschluss. Die pädagogische Grundlagen werden erarbeitet und können direkt in der Praxis angewendet und überprüft werden. Eine breite Basis in allen sportlichen Bereichen und Klassenlehrerthemen wird gelegt und mit Fachleuten vertieft. Ein wesentlicher Teil der Ausbildung ist es, die Studierenden in ihrer Persönlichkeit zu stärken, so dass sie sicher im Beruf stehen können und auch den Anforderungen der heutigen Zeit sowie den Bedürfnissen der Kinder gewachsen sind.
