Dearest friends of the Youth Section, Transitions and cycles often invite us to reflect on the past and look ahead with renewed intentions, wishes, and dreams. As the calendar year draws to a close, we are filled with gratitude and joy as we reflect on the many youth initiatives, events, conferences, gatherings, and projects that took place in the worldwide network of the Youth Section. Collaborations of all kinds flourished throughout the year, with youth groups supporting and inspiring one another in creative ways. On our website, a collection of colorful posters as well as articles and reflections from these events can be found— testimony of the work shared by Youth Section co-workers and friends across the globe. This past year offered profound opportunities for learning and growth through the diverse projects we dedicated our time to. The February Days event, “Digital Technology and Spirituality,” encouraged us to engage with the pressing questions of our generation, while the International Students’ Conference, “Taking Heart – Finding our way together,” fostered a sense of peace and community building with over 700 students from around the world. At this year's Co-workers’ Gathering that marked the Youth Section's 100th anniversary, we revisited the foundational tasks and reconnected with the thoughts of the first leader of the Section, Maria Röschl-Lehrs. This led us to deepen our understanding of where we are now. The collaboration on the World Goetheanum Forum “Working for Freedom and the Common Good” inspired fresh and new perspectives on social life and the economy, creating intergenerational dialogue. In October of this year, the theatre project, "Question! Encounter! Play!" brought young people together who in 6 days prepared a play to tell a story about Faith, Hope, and Love. Beyond these major events, weekend seminars on inner work and hands-on service projects including renovating the Youth Section House were taking place in Dornach. To prepare for different events, study groups on "The Leading Thoughts" (CW26) by Rudolf Steiner, "The Second Man in Us" by Maria Röschl-Lehrs, "Towards Social Renewal" (CW23) by Rudolf Steiner, "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt, "Youth and the Etheric Heart" (CW217a) and The Philosophy of Freedom (CW4) by Rudolf Steiner were held weekly at the Youth Section House with an invitation for the network to join in spirit. In this newsletter, you’ll find reflections from friends and members of Youth groups who have founded, hosted, organized, and facilitated wonderful gatherings and opportunities in different parts of the world. Additionally, two articles courageously address pressing global challenges. For the coming year, we are delighted to already have so many invitations to share! Mark your calendars for these exciting youth initiatives and projects! With warmth and gratitude, we carry forward the inspiration from the past year and look ahead with excitement to the collaborative work and the great opportunities awaiting in 2025.
