Dear friends of the Youth Section, In conversations I have had with young people around the world over the last couple of years, I have often encountered a striving to find meaningful ways for anthroposophy to speak to the most pressing concerns of our time. It will certainly surprise no one that one of these concerns has to do with technology, both its promise and its potential for harm. Another red thread in these conversations is a heartfelt interest in coming to terms with ecological and economic challenges and working with goodwill toward peace. Within the Section in the coming year, from April 1–5, we will host an International Student's Conference dedicated to the theme of connection and technology, where we expect over 600 students between 16 and 20 years old from around the world. The students organizing it have chosen the title “Disconnect to Connect: The threads that hold us together.” It will be an opportunity to learn and exchange ideas about the non-digital ways we are all connected, as well as reflect on the positive and negative aspects that accompany the unfolding digital revolution. The Youth Section’s New Pegasus Project speaks not only to the challenges and potentials of screen culture, but also to possibilities in economics. After extensive preparation, an ensemble of light artists and singers will be touring schools, offering small performances and workshops. Frank Stiksma, an expert in e-waste and a right-to-repair activist, will join us for part of the tour and offer workshops on the ecological and economic dimensions of the digital revolution, the right to repair, and positive approaches to working together toward economic enterprises. In what follows, you will find many more colorful impressions, reports, and reflections related to the activities of young people working with anthroposophy around the world. This work, as with the work of all the Sections of the School of Spiritual Science, relies heavily on the generosity and support of people from across the globe. This year, the Youth Section is in particular need of financial support to meet our goals. I invite you to consider making a contribution toward these efforts. If you would like to learn how to donate to the Youth Section, you can do so here, or if you have questions about the Section’s financial situation, please do not hesitate to reach out!
